Series of New Year Specials on CNBC

cnbcoriginalsCNBC has lined up a series of special programmes to kick start the new year.  The first programme, 'Welcome to Macintosh' focuses on the story of Apple from 1977 through to today.  Second up is a special on the merger from hell between AOL and Time Warner which recently came to an end when AOL seperated and relisted itself as an independent  company.  Finally, CNBC's 'planet of the apps' looks at the new phenomenon which is the 'app'.

CNBC's presentation of "Welcome to Macintosh" will premiere on Monday, January 4th at 9:30PM.

"Welcome to Macintosh" is the Apple story told by people who build, use, love, hate, and obsess over the company's revolutionary products. When Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak launched Apple Computers in 1977, they had no idea the impact their company would have on the world. Now, more than thirty years later, filmmakers Robert Baca and Josh Rizzo take an in dept look how Apple has created a cult fan base and how Steve Jobs has become a modern day hero.

CNBC's "Marriage From Hell: The Breakup of AOL Time Warner" will premiere on Wednesday, January 6th at 10PM. The show will repeat at 1AM.

CNBC's "Marriage from Hell: The Breakup of AOL Time Warner" takes viewers inside the story of what has been called the worst deal ever made. Included: candid comments from one of the chief architects of the deal: former Time Warner CEO Gerald Levin- who underwent a stunning reversal of fortune.

CNBC's "Planet of the Apps: A Handheld Revolution!" will premiere on Thursday, January 7th at 10PM, and repeats at 1AM.
